It's tense, violent and atmospheric, and offers excellent replay value with its Contracts mode. Scoffing at the titular agent’s previous cold demeanour, Absolution dares to give the Hitman a soul, and in doing so, paves the way for the most narrative-driven and in many ways, the most disappointing Hitman game yet. Hitman: Absolution is a worthy entry in the series. So goes the premise of Hitman: Absolution, the most recent entry in IO Interactive’s Hitman series. With Dishonored, Assassin's Creed 3 and now Hitman: Absolution, there is excellent choice! This social aspect should give Hitman: Absolution a long life, assuming enough fans keep making new contracts.Ģ012 is a great year for would be assassin's. Hitman: Absolution isn’t a bad game by any stretch. Once you're done, other people will be able to play your Contract. IO-Interactive’s Hitman Absolution is the first game in the franchise to grace the hardware of the high-definition era, and with it comes a number of upgrades. rather than the giant puzzles of yesterday, which just doesn’t seem to fit right with the game. Levels vary from massive crowded areas to smaller more intimate surroundings, with numerous disguises to be used, weapons and items to uncover, to be mixed and mashed to orchestrate the perfect hit. Contracts mode saves what could’ve otherwise been a giant flop, and I really hope Io Interactive returns to its Blood Money roots, otherwise Agent 47 has assassinated himself. Hitman: Absolution unfolds like other titles in the series, you are given a myriad of choices and ways to kill your targets. You play through the level, 'designing' with your actions. The story is stupid, unbelievable in the context of the Hitman universe, and the countless design flaws mar what could otherwise be a fun experience. This allows you to choose a level and weapons, and define the targets for you and other players too. The difficulty settings mean more casual gamers will be able to enjoy it, while harder settings will satisfy people who want a challenge.Ĭontract mode is a great new development. Hitman: Absolution is more accessible than its predecessors. You'll spend a lot of time hiding and searching for safe routes out of places, and somehow it's not as fun as in this year's Dishonored.

There are some things that could have been improved - stealing clothes from bodies is poorly animated, for example. Betrayed by those he once trusted and hunted by the police, Agent 47 finds himself caught in the center of a dark conspiracy and propelled through a corrupt and twisted world. Hitman Absolution was a game I never expected to play.

A smooth cover system has been added, which makes creeping around feel much more natural, and shootouts a fairer fight. Hitman: Absolution follows cold-blooded assassin Agent 47 as he takes on his most dangerousand personalcontract to date. It looks great, the crowd scenes are some of the best we've ever seen, and is accompanied by an excellent soundtrack. Don't worry though, Hitman: Absolution isn't stuck in the past.

It's been six years since the last Hitman game, and games have changed considerably in the meantime.
